Your Appointment
What to do before you arrive:
Your preparation at home before your procedure is a very important part of the success of your procedure. Carefully read and follow your physician’s instructions. And remember, preparation can start as much as 24-36 hours before your appointment, so make sure you read these instructions a couple of days ahead of time in order to be prepared.
- Leave jewelry and valuables at home.
- Wear comfortable, loose clothing that is easy to take off and put back on.
What to bring:
- A list of your current medications
- Your insurance card and photo ID
- Your portion of your procedure payment
- And very important…bring someone 16 years or older with a valid driver’s license who can drive you home since you will have received relaxing medication that will impair your ability to drive for 24 hours. Your driver should stay in our waiting room during your procedure and recovery. Uber, Lyft and taxis are not permitted.
What to expect on procedure day:
We don’t want you to have any surprises during your visit with us, so here are a few things to expect:
- Arrive prior to your scheduled visit.
- Check in with the receptionist prior to your appointment time to complete necessary paperwork, including signing a consent form to authorize the doctor to do your procedure as well as a Notice of Privacy Practice form. If you are an adult who is unable to sign the consent, you must have someone with you who is authorized to sign on your behalf.
- Plan to be at the center from 90 minutes to two hours.
- A nurse will record your vital signs (pulse, breathing, temperature) and ask you about allergies and other medical information.
- An I.V. will be inserted so you can easily receive intravenous medication, medication that will help you relax. In fact, many of our patients are so relaxed, they don’t even remember the procedure!
After your procedure:
Your actual procedure will last a very short time, typically between 15 and 30 minutes depending on your procedure. When the doctor is finished:
- You will rest for a short time until the effects of the medication wear off.
- The doctor will then tell you what she or he found.
- A nurse will let you know when you can leave and give you any additional instructions.
